Everyone has a different idea

Tuesday:
Jack didn't want to go out to walk ( for the first time ever), but instead pulled a "Lassie", and had me follow him and then let him out the back door so he could eat some monkey grass. I guess his tummy was bothering him.
Juneau on the other hand decided he wasn't going to let go of the tug rope and carried it all the way across the street and to the car. He did not take it with us when we got to the park.
When I came back later in the afternoon, I saw Jack through the front window of the guest room, fly off the bed when he saw me approach the front door. He was waiting for me in the hall, wagging his little stumpy tail, "Hello".
Yes the gate to their room was closed. He went over it to get the best nap spot.
Success!

Stand On The Corner Long Enough- You May Make A Friend

Juneau doesn't make friend quickly, but once he decides he likes somebody, he is all in.

Little Rainbow

On our second walk Tuesday, as the boys stopped to smell some "pee mail", I was watching the Cormorants flying in formation and saw this rainbow. So pretty in the winter sky

Another beautiful day

We were doing great walking the Katy Trail until workers decided to test the sprinklers all at once.
Jack and Juneau saw these men earlier and thought they looked suspicious. They were right!

Not That Innocent

We came back from or our walk while Narcie was cleaning the boy's room. She had both dog beds on top of each other with the covers off, on the floor, outside the gate. Juneau lay down on top of both and sunk down into total comfort, reminiscent of "The Princess and the Pea. Jack, came round the corner, saw that and got on top of Juneau and sat on him.
Juneau pretended he didn't notice or care for a bit, but eventually got up and walked away. Jack stretched out and took to spot he stole from Juneau. He looked like the cat that ate the canary, quite pleased with his success.
However his success was short lived. Narcie came over with the newly washed covers and tried to make Jack move off the beds.
He wouldn't budge. She said "Oh, I think he is tired". I told her he took Juneau's place and doesn't want to give it up, and I helped her get him up and off.
Such is a dog's life.

Juneau - Changes

I'm not sure if it is part of his recovery from his Idiopathic episode, or his adjustment to his deafness, but Juneau has started taking note of some of the people we pass on our outings. He get a bead on them, does not disengage, and I have to pull him away.
Yesterday, he stopped at the end of a circle driveway, and starred at the pool guy who was sitting in his truck. The guy rolled [?] his window down, and said to me "Is he looking at me, is that what he's doing?". I answer "Yup" only, cause I got nothing.

Hills and Stairs

Been working with Juneau as much as possible on getting his muscles working again. Today we drove to the Armstrong end of Lakeside Park and went up and down all those stairs. The "workout" was punctuated by stopping to see who has visited the trees and to checkout what the workers are having for lunch.
Happy Day

Riverchon Park

A beautiful day at the park
The boys were in high spirits today. Perhaps they knew how handsome they looked in their "I got groomed" bandannas.
Juneau seems to be better. He kept his head up on the car ride and most importantly he didn't have to walk when he pooped.
That is a big deal.
The highlight of our outing was not, watching the two suspicious looking women (who were looking to pick up pecans) or the strange men on the ground (who were doing one armed push ups), but on the way home, being almost nose to nose, at a long light with a dog in the car next to us.
Simple pleasures

Juneau is a prince among dogs

Is Jack allowed in the bed?

 Ear drum
Sent: Nov 7, 2011 9:50 AM
Good morning, I left pictures Dr Morse took of Juneau when he put him under and did a scope of his ears. The left one is his good ear, the right one shows his ruptured ear drum before and after it was cleaned on Friday. We are going to keep taking him twice a week to get it washed out. And he his taking steroid ear drops daily. Dr Morse wants to scope him again in a month to see if it is healing. Other than the right ear he said he looks excellent and thinks his head tilt is improving. Thanks

Boo-Boo gets his nails clipped

There was just a little blood, all mine.
I just did the front two paws, and will do the back two on Monday.
He was just too wiggly and I did not want to stress him out the first time.

Welcome To The Family, Boo-Boo

From living under a dumpster to living in a loving home, it is a lucky turn of circumstances for a little orange kitty. This rescue was initiated by the determination of a kind hearted person who was willing to step up to the plate, with the encouragement of his wife and family.
Boo you have already brought much joy to all of us!

Sleeping Dogs

Juneau was sleeping so heavily when I came in the room, he did not alert to the floor vibration, with me stomping around, but Jack did.
He did not wake when I softly stroked him. He slept through being stepped on by Jack, the first time, when Jack, who was anxious to go, came round him the second time, he stepped on Juneau's head. That did it.
Even at that Juneau woke not with a start, but like Rip Van Winkle, with a dazed look and a yawn.
That must have been some dream.

We Hit The Katy Trail

Brenda  thanks for the heads up about coming through the back door and avoiding the workmen.
Scared Narcie  but it is Halloween so it was in fitting with the occasion.
The boys looked so handsome in their orange bandanas.
If ever there was a perfect day for the Katy Trail it was today.
We drove as I don't think Juneau is up for the extended walks like before. He is looking much improved I think.
Jack still trying rule the walk. I believe he will be the first to know when Juneau totally recovers from his vestibular incident.
Tons of good smells on the trail, a lady said "sweet dogs" as she biked past us, and we met two dogs; Zoe and Avery on the other side of the path through the shrubs. I like lots of "personal space" as you know.
Anyway. Zoe is a 5 year old white Boxer, who except for a brown patch on her ear, looked strikingly like Jack.  Everyone was on their best behavior (settled and waited) while I talked with the owners.

Even Sophie was in a good mood and we had a nice walk.
I bought a little toy for Boo and put it in his cage to amuse him.
Happy Halloween!

Obstacles - part 2

You may think you are done once you've bypassed the surveyor on the sidewalk, but try getting two suspicious Boxers to pass a large work truck, parked on the street, with the torso and legs of a sleeping [I assume sleeping], workman sticking out from under the side. It was just not right.

Obstacles

We can walk around that surveyor in the middle of the sidewalk because we're not scared.
OK,OK, OK , maybe we are.
