Sleeping Dogs

Juneau was sleeping so heavily when I came in the room, he did not alert to the floor vibration, with me stomping around, but Jack did.
He did not wake when I softly stroked him. He slept through being stepped on by Jack, the first time, when Jack, who was anxious to go, came round him the second time, he stepped on Juneau's head. That did it.
Even at that Juneau woke not with a start, but like Rip Van Winkle, with a dazed look and a yawn.
That must have been some dream.
